Verb–to wait for, endure, withstand, bear patiently, sojourn, remain stable and continue.
In your patience posses ye you souls Luke 21:19
Because thou hast kept the word of My patience, I also will keep thee from the hour of temptation, which shall come upon the whole world, to try them that dwell upon the earth. Rev. 3:10
I Jn. 2:28 And now, little children, abide in Him; that, when He shall appear, we may have confidence, and not be ashamed before Him at His coming.
Ekklesia (Greek #1577) The called out ones
The body of believers God called out of the world (Jn. 6:44) and Jesus chose (Jn. 15:16) to place into the Body of Christ (I Cor. 12:18). The Body of Christ is the Kingdom of God (ruling God family) in embryo.
The term ''Church of God
Represents the founding of Church to enter into the old covenant (Acts 7:38) beginning with the 12 sons of Jacob. Rev. 12 provides a historical overview of the Church beginning with same foundational twelve stars as found in Gen. 37:9,10.
The new testament also had twelve men led by God to serve and lead His flock to enter in the new covenant with the original apostles.
Whereas the Church of the Old Testament was pictured with a menorah (seven lamp candlestick–Ex. 25:31,32; Zech. 4:2); the New Testament Church is represented by seven separate candlesticks with independent bases (Rev. 1:20). There were seven eras of the Old Testament Church just as there are seven eras of the New Testament (of which we are currently living in the seventh era–Laodicea)
Just as Jesus Christ came at the close of the 7th era of the Old Testament, He too will return at the closure of the Laodicea era of the New Testament age.
Holding Fast (Rev. 3:11) to the all things (Matt. 17:11) once delivered (Jude 3) to the Church during the Philadelphian Era.
There have been many to go out from us because they were not truly of us (I Jn. 2:19), back into the world (II Peter 2:20-22).
There have been those who did not love the ``full`` truth and thereby become hellenized as did the first century Church of God in that God sent them strong delusion upon choosing to only hold fast to various points of truth (II Thes. 2:10,11).
They still believed themselves to be Christians and were more in number than those who held fast. In time the larger group became affiliated with what is now known as the Catholic Church.
We therefore intend to hold fast to all doctrine and traditions (II Thes. 2:15) whether delivered via oracle or letter. The Prophets of the Old Testament and the Apostles who Christ led in the New Testament are who He used to introduce doctrine (Eph. 2:20). Similar to the building of a physical structure, when any portion of a foundation is removed the structure is not wholly sound. Regardless of how many builders and workers believe themselves to be firmly grounded, because they have (appropriated the name of) Christ; they are as a building set over a less than solid foundation. Further they tip their hands that they do not believe Luke 10:16 or of the same mind as Acts 2:42 and purport that the Laodicean era is more in line with the mind of Christ than the Philadelphian era. For this reason many today either reject or turn a blind eye to the understanding of church eras.
The prophecy in Matt. 25 explains that one-half of those who did not love the full truth will recall and hearken back to appreciate it. They will have maintained enough of the God's Spirit to not take of the mark of the beast. They will come to see that they have slumbered but now must trim their lamps so as to enter into God's Kingdom
